Mrs. Gemberling's Sixth Grade Class

Welcome to Sixth Grade!

This year will be filled with lots of learning and fun, enriching projects. In English Language Arts, students will start the year with Percy Jackson, and the Olympians, The Lighting Thief, by Rick Riordan. Students will work together and independently on the archetype, a hero's journey. They will analyze character motivation and author's point of view.

Students will learn about different writing genres: Narrative, Informative/Explanatory, Opinion, and Descriptive. They will work through the writing process for each of these genres.

In Social Studies, students will start with Geography, learning about different types of maps, and how to interpret the information presented.

I look forward to working with your child this year. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
