The way we overcome challenges is through something called grit. Grit is the courage and resolve to face and survive difficult situations. We all will face challenging times. Times when the obstacles seem insurmountable, but when we develop and meet the challenge with grit and resilience we muster the strength to persevere. Winston Churchill said, "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts."
Outcome: In this studio we will read short-stories about individuals and situations in which they demonstrated grit and resilience. By the end of the studio you will have written an informational paper about an individual of your choice who has demonstrated grit.
In this studio we will work to develop competencies in literacy, which is the comprehension of written, spoken, and watched mediums of communication. We will also develop writing and communication skills.
