All schools in North Dakota participate in a continuous improvement process that examines current performance across demographics, culture, technology, finances, and academic outcomes. Using this data, schools identify trends, anticipate future needs, and develop strategic plans for improvement.

WERC has extensive experience supporting schools and districts through the Cognia accreditation process. Our team has spent the past decade serving on district-level Cognia/AdvancED teams and has participated in eight accreditation reviews as both team members and lead evaluators.
In addition, WERC has partnered directly with school teams across the region, providing guidance and support throughout the continuous improvement process.

Design, distribute, and analyze surveys, including current-year and multi-year (up to three years) parent and staff data.
Classroom Environment Observations
Conduct ELEOT observations using Cognia tools and provide analysis of trends over time.

Analyze current and multi-year grade-level data across assessments to inform instructional decisions.

The North Dakota Department of Public Instruction identifies schools for targeted or comprehensive support based on performance indicators. Schools identified receive access to school improvement funding and support to address identified needs and close achievement gaps.
Through state grant partnerships, WERC provides technical assistance, coaching, and support to TSI and CSI schools across the region.

The NDMTSS supports schools with the MTSS process through professional development and liaison assistance.
North Dakota’s Multi-Tier System of Supports (NDMTSS) is a framework to provide all students with the best opportunities to succeed academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally in school. NDMTSS focuses on providing high-quality instruction and interventions matched to student need, monitoring progress frequently to make decisions about changes in instruction or goals. Data are used to allocate resources to improve student learning and support staff implementation of effective practices.
