This week has started to feel Christmassy here at Welton. Aspiration has been the focus this week and our children have shown this in abundance. They have been busy learning songs, lines and continuing to work their socks off as we come into one of the busiest times of the year. We have been so impressed with their willingness to continue to learn even though we are getting closer to when Father Christmas is coming.
The week has been full of music this week with children performing in their Rocksteady concert, participating as part of the choir at Midsomer Norton Methodist and it was topped off today with Dylan, Scarlett, Monty and Rory performing in our assembly demonstrating great aspiration. We have truly been blown away.
We are also very excited to share some updates regarding some of our spaces with our library getting a further revamp - look out for images in the first week back after Christmas. A huge thank you to Wealthtime in Bath for supporting us with this. If you have any books you are clearing out, that may be useful for our children, please bring them in. Over the coming days, children will be bringing some books home to share with you over the Christmas break. Keep encouraging them to read as this is vital for them to succeed in life and is the foundation for everything they will do.
As we come into our final school week of 2025, please be reminded about all of the things that are going on (see below). This and the parent calendar is where you will find all of the information.
Please also note, there has been an error for the menus for next week. If you have ordered lunches for next week, it is the week 3 menu and not week 2. If you have ordered, don't panic as Christmas lunch will remain the same. This is an issue from Cypad themselves. Apologies if this causes any issues - it is out of our control.
As always, thank you for your continued support and have a lovely weekend.
Mr Lyle

Many thanks for your continued support whilst we strive to give your children a lovely build up to Christmas.
What a fantastic experience! We reminded ourselves of the skills that we had been taught during our lessons at school, then had a go at using metal golf clubs with real golf balls. The children demonstrated remarkable resilience and perseverance during the session, as well as a fantastic use of team work. We had children teaching and coaching other children! We are very proud of Year 3 - Well done!
On Thursday afternoon, children from our school took part in a carol concert at Midsomer Norton Methodist Church. Children from across the school have been busy learning songs, as part of the choir, to perform at this event.
The children were superb, and the event was a huge success. We received wonderful feedback from the organisers about the commitment and talent shown by every child involved. Well done to all the children who took part! Their singing was absolutely beautiful and filled the church with festive spirit. They represented Welton magnificently!
Thank you to the Midsomer Norton Methodist Church and the MSN Good Afternoon Choir for inviting us to be part of such a lovely community event. It was a wonderful opportunity for our children to shine. We loved the cakes and squash afterwards too!
What a fantastic musical treat we had last Tuesday! Our young musicians took to the stage for the highly anticipated Rocksteady Concert, and they truly rocked the house down!
We are so incredibly proud of all the children who participated. The hard work they have put in during their Rocksteady sessions really paid off, and the confidence they showed on stage was inspirational.
We were so impressed with how well they have learned to play their instruments, whether it was drums, keyboard, guitar, or vocals.
They sang their hearts out and performed their pieces with enthusiasm and skill. Their energy was contagious!
A massive round of applause and a huge well done to all the Rocksteady band members! You gave us a concert to remember and demonstrated just how much fun learning music can be.
Thank you to the Rocksteady team for inspiring the next generation of rock stars!
As we head into the last week of Term 2, please, please, please remind your children of good hygiene habits, particularly coughing/sneezing into a tissue, hands or crook of the elbow and definitely remind them of the importance of washing hands after visiting the toilet. You may like to help your child understand that washing hands should take as long as it does to sing 'happy birthday' twice. The following poster may help to explain what good handwashing looks like...
Many thanks to everyone who joined us last week as part of our Christmas Fayre. The grand total was a huge £2244.65. We are hoping to share what this will be spent on in the next week. We would also like to extend a huge thanks to everyone who took part, particularly our PTFA. Without them, and you, these events wouldn't be half as successful. Keep an eye out in next week's newsletter for dates for events for 2026!
On Wednesday, parents from Y5 joined us to take part in our final parent in PE session. It was a fab session run by Mr Kingwell working on problem solving and resilience. Well done to all parents involved.
Take a look at our class pages below! We will be updating these on the school website in the coming weeks!
This spring Stagecoach Midsomer Norton will be performing the incredible Matilda the Musical.
We're so excited that our talented students will get to step into the world of Roald Dahl's beloved story. This show is all about bravery, creativity, and standing up for what's right. If you know a child who might like to get involved, we'd love to hear from you. Enrolments for our next term are now OPEN.
Classes run every Saturday morning at Welton Primary School starting on the 10th of Jan. The performance will be on the 22nd April at the Dragonfly Theatre. Visit our website or give Principal Charlie a call on 07435050703 to see if there are spaces for your child's age group and book a 2-week trial today!
Thank you 🙂
