Welcome back and Happy New Year! It's been lovely welcoming the children back to school this week and sharing all their exciting holiday news. We hope you all had a lovely break and feel rested. This week, we have been focusing on the value, aspiration. This always links nicely to this time of year as it gives us an opportunity to reflect on the year just gone and the upcoming year and what we want to achieve. Assemblies have focused on this and, during our PSHE this term, we will be exploring what dreams and goals are and how we can achieve these.
As we are aware this week has been incredibly chilly and it is certainly beginning to feel like winter. Please be reminded to ensure children have appropriate clothing for the outdoors: coats, gloves, scarves etc. We aim to get out as much as possible. A huge thank you to AJ Champion for their speedy deliveries this week so we can continue to let children be outside and keep them safe. Please also send children with wellies as we will be using the field as much as possible this term.
In the classroom, we will be continuing the theme of aspiration and continuing to encourage the children to be their best and set goals to achieve. We will be continuing our journey of handwriting and spelling and supporting children to apply these in their learning. Thank you to all of you for continuing to support them with spellings, Doodle and reading at home. We know how much all children benefit from this.
Have a lovely weekend and see you next week. Mr Lyle :)
As the weather gets colder, please ensure that you are not stopping in the drop off zone and taking your child into school. The drop off service is for those children who can get themselves into class independently. If your child struggles with this, please park on the surrounding streets and walk in. Many thanks.
On Wednesday 29th January, we will be holding a non uniform day to help raise equipment for our lunchtimes. Rather than asking for a cash donation, what we are looking for is donations of second hand clothes, toys or loose parts. All of the items can be found below.
Lunchtimes take up 20% of the school week and we recognise the importance of children having opportunities to be physically active so we would love it if you could help with this. Our PTFA are working hard to secure funds and raise money to help build some more structures for our children to enjoy so any more loose parts will only improve lunchtimes. If you know of any companies who would be willing to donate some sand to improve our sand pit, please speak to Mr Lyle. Thank you.
On this day, we will also be holding a stay and play for all of our families. Please join your children at 2:30 for an opportunity to enjoy some time playing with them. :)
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) South West is reminding parents and carers of the simple steps they can take to ensure their children make the healthiest start to this school term after the Christmas break. The new year brings with it an opportunity to teach children about the importance of good hygiene and with the recent increase in cases of flu and high levels of other respiratory viruses such as COVID and RSV as well as norovirus, it’s more important than ever! CLICK HERE to read the advice.
This term Mr Hudson, our sports coach, will be running one last half term of football club for children in KS2. All children in Y3-6 are welcome to attend and it will cost £17.50 for the term.
The club will run on a Monday after school from 3.15- 4.15pm starting on Monday 13th January until February 10th. He would love to see some new faces! Bookings can be made on ParentPay from this afternoon.
Our other club offers for lunchtimes will be coming out in next week's newsletter.
During this term and term 5, we are very excited to be continuing our work with the Bath Rugby foundation. They will be coming in to work with a range of children looking at developing skills such as resilience and self confidence in a range of scenarios. Our first session was today and it was a roaring success. Well done to everyone that took part.
During the week of the 26th January, our nursery are taking part in the RSPB annaul big bird watch. If you have any binoculars you would be willing to donate or let us borrow for the week, please bring them into the school office.
Thank you :)
Well done to all of the children in Year 3 who took part in the 500 word challenge. There were over 10,000 entries and they have reduced the entries down to 5,000. Well done to Adam, Amelia and Rory who have made it through to the next round. We look forward to seeing if they make it through again. Well done everyone. :)
We would welcome donations of wellies (in good condition) that children have grown out of for our welly bank. The welly bank will be available alongside the school uniform on the first and last week of every term. Hopefully giving this opportunity for wellies to be reused in this manner will also have some financial benefits for Welton families.
As well as this, if you can or know anyone who could help make some welly boot racks for each class, please let Mr Lyle or Mrs Heal know. We would love to be able to create some storage for these. Thank you in advance. :)
Well done to all of the children who were stars of the week for aspiration, this week!
Due to feedback from parents, progressive kids are changing some of their sports for next term. Many thanks to everyone for making this change over for wraparound so successful. As always, if you have any concerns or would like to give feedback, please speak to one of us as we are keen for it to be the best it can be.
Please find the updated timetable below:
