TRAC
TRAC is the acronym we use to evaluate sources of information.
A source is any place from which you get information, like a book, website, database, magazine, video, interview, newspaper article, encyclopedia, podcast, etc.
THINK ABOUT THESE QUESTIONS WHEN EVALUATING A RESOURCE:
TRUSTWORTHY
Who is taking responsibility for the information in the resource?
Can you find out who wrote or published the information?
What makes you want to trust that person or organization?
Remember, the more information you can find out about who is taking responsibility for the information, the more trustworthy it is likely to be.
RELEVANT
Does the information in the source help you find your answer?
Is it the best source to use for what you're trying to find?
Remember, a source that is about your topic may not be the best one depending on what you're tyring to discover.
ACCESSIBLE
Can you read the information in the source?
Can you understand it?
Don't use a source that is too complicated , find one that works!
CURRENT
Is the source up-to-date?
Does it have to be for the topic you're looking at?
Do different topics require information to be more or less current?
