Foundations of Acting and Improv fosters ensemble building and encourages reflection on individual actor
strengths, while developing solo performance skills. Tailored to enhance acting, observation, and listening skills,
this course utilizes a variety of engaging exercises. Participants delve into various techniques, from creative
movement to improvisation, voice exploration, dramatics, pantomime, and theater activities. Students will also
explore a dynamic workshop format designed to keep you active, with 75% of the time spent on your feet and
25% in your seat. Enrollment and/or completion of this class provides eligibility for students to audition for the
high school Improv Troupe.

Students will develop and refine artistic techniques and work for the presentation of student-directed One Act Plays

Students will interpret intent and meaning in artistic work by reading plays presented at WHS and analyzing the text and then attending the performances.

Students will relate artistic ideas and works to societal, cultural, and historical contexts to deepen understanding through the study of Social Justice and Documentary Theatre
