Sports Education is your traditional games-based physical education course and is grounded in a high-level of aerobic, cardiovascular movement. The focus is on team or partner sports and will include instruction in a minimum of four of these activities: ultimate frisbee, flag football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, speedball, street hockey, tennis and baseball/softball or whiffle ball.
Students will demonstrate and perform defensive and offensive strategies in a team game setting.
Students will demonstrate spatial awareness in team games, with the goal of assuring safe gameplay.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of fair gameplay, by engaging in proper sportsmanship with their peers.
Through different sports, students will recognize the value of being physically active for challenge, enjoyment, fitness, overall health and well-being, and positive social interactions.
