This course provides students a learning experience in merchandising and retail operations by giving them responsibility for operating and managing the school store. Students will take on the role of managers with responsibility for all aspects of store operation including staffing, designing merchandise, purchasing, market research, advertising, promotions, pricing, store design/displays, inventory management, sales, customer service, accounting, and record keeping. Project management, teamwork, leadership, creativity, and improvement in critical thinking and communication skills will be stressed.
Independently manage the essential processes for operating the school store
Effectively engage with the WHS community members to encourage them to use the school store to purchase merchandise
Consider and execute various advertising strategies using multiple forms of media to promote WHS products
