Bates Library

School Librarian

Marie Lynch

Instructional Library Assistant

Bates students visit the library once a week during their class library time for lessons in information literacy, research skills, internet safety, and, of course, to find great books to read! Students are also welcome to stop by the library at other times during the school day to check out books or to get help from our friendly librarians.

Students check out library books each week during their library class and they are kindly encouraged to return their books at the following library class, though students can renew their library books if they need more time to finish them.

In the event that a library book is lost or damaged by a student, families will be asked to pay for, or replace, the book. We will accept either a replacement copy of the book or a check for the cost of another copy. Please feel free to speak with a librarian about the options.

Bates students in grades 1-5 use the school's laptops during their library classes for research projects and to search the online library catalog. All students must abide by the Acceptable Use Policy. Students in grades 3-5 have 1:1 iPads.
