Wellesley Weekly

3rd December 2018

From the Headmaster's Study

Saturday was a tremendous Wellesley occasion and judging by the comments that I have received from parents, staff and pupils, our first Christmas Fair was a huge success. If you were unable to join us and missed out on some of the fun, there is more information below. I would like to offer my thanks to the Friends of Wellesley for their brilliant efforts, and indeed to everyone who made the day such an enjoyable experience.

Also on Saturday, we hosted an information morning for our new pre-prep school which signals an exciting new chapter for Wellesley House. If you know families who may be interested in finding out more about what we will be offering in the pre-prep, we have information booklets available. Please do contact Geraldine if you would like some copies.

Future Events

Old Welleslians' Advent Carol Service at St Simon Zelotes, Chelsea, London

Final preparations are taking place for the Carol Service in London on Thursday. The service at St Simon Zelotes in Chelsea begins at 6.30 pm, and all parents are very welcome to join the congregation for what is always a very joyous occasion. The choir is also rehearsing hard for the end-of-term Carol Service on Wednesday 12th December.

Louie's Helping Hands

Our school charity is Louie's Helping Hands. They have asked us if we would support them in their Christmas Winter Wonderland event this December 23rd in Minster.

They will be holding a Jam Jar Tombola and wondered if Wellesley House pupils (and families) could help with the jam jar donations?

All you need to do is send in a jam jar filled with something a child may like. This could be a jar of sweets or pencils, erasers, hair bands or anything child-orientated, and these will be sold at the Winter Wonderland. Any money raised will contribute towards the new Llewellyn School build currently in progress at Quex Park.

See the Louie's Helping Hands website for more information about the charity and about The Llewellyn School Big Build!

Thank you for your continued support.

Friends of Wellesley Christmas Fair

Thank you to everyone who came to the Christmas Fair on Saturday and for all those that helped whether behind the scenes or at a stall; it was hugely appreciated. It was brilliant to see the children having so much fun playing at each other's stalls in Junior House and the choir added to the festive feel with their carol singing by the piano. The Old Hall was buzzing with Christmas shoppers at the wonderful variety of stalls on offer. It was a great day. Applications for Father Christmas 2020 can be submitted in the new year!

NSPCC

On Thursday we held a fun run to raise money for the NSPCC. It was a great event. The whole school took part in one way or another and enjoyed blowing off some steam after exam week! To date we have raised in excess of £900 for the NSPCC. Thank you to all of our families and friends for your support.

School Council

The School Council held their third meeting of the term during morning break on Friday. They were congratulated on a very successful term of fundraising through a number of superb events. The fun run was a particular success, and it was noted that we had raised in excess of £900 for the NSPCC. The council look forward to building on their success next term. They also continue to be the voice of the pupil body in all areas of school life.
