I am a math professor at Wellesley College. I am passionate about supporting people on their mathematical journeys, both in the classroom and out. After teaching Linear Algebra for many years, I made these materials during the Spring and Summer of 2020 so that I could teach the class remotely.
Linear algebra is truly one of the most beautiful and important subjects in mathematics. Whether your interests are in mathematics, computer science, data science, economics, etc., Linear Algebra has something to offer you. I hope you find these materials useful on your journey! If you happen to catch any errors or have other feedback, please feel free to email me: karen.lange@wellesley.edu.
I am a mathematics major in Wellesley College's Class of 2024. I helped Karen Lange compile her Linear Algebra course materials into this website.
Linear Algebra is one of my favorite math courses because every concept is interrelated. My advice for this course would be to embrace mathematical abstraction; understanding the connections between each concept will be more helpful than memorizing solving techniques!

This course follows this version of Jim Hefferon's Linear Algebra textbook. The textbook is free online and available to everyone! For more information on Jim Hefferon, click here.
The course is organized by the chapters in Hefferon's textbook:
Chapter One: Linear Systems,
Chapter Two: Vector Spaces,
Chapter Three: Maps Between Spaces,
Chapters Four: Determinants and Five: Similarity.
Each of these topics has its own page (available to click on at the top of the page), on which you'll find the chapter broken into 2-6 topics, each with many videos. Each topic has:
a Video Notes document that you can download or print to follow along with Karen Lange while watching the videos
Below each video is a PDF of the filled-in video notes in case you want to look at her work later.
This course website can be used for many purposes: as a supplemental resource while you learn Linear Algebra in school, as a self-study tool to teach yourself Linear Algebra, etc. We hope you find these resources helpful!
3Blue1Brown has numerous videos with helpful visual representations of Linear Algebra concepts.
Khan Academy has videos and practice problems for material covered in Chapters 1 and 2 in this course.
A Guide to Proofs in Linear Algebra by Curtis Paul describes how to approach proofs and gives some practice exercises.
For those in the Wellelsey College Community:
Math 206 Proof Blog is a collection of resources Karen Lange made for thinking through certain Linear Algebra proofs. These resources were created for a specific class at Wellesley College, but they could be helpful to anyone for more practice.
