Alumnae Achievement Awards 1991

Management Consultant, Professor

At Wellesley, Claudine Malone was president of the Athletic Association, chairman of the sophomore Father’s Day, and a production manager of the junior show. She graduated in 1963 with a B.A. in philosophy and went on to receive her M.B.A. from Harvard University with high distinction, the only woman in her class to do so.

Malone was cited in a 1988 Los Angeles Times article as one of two women who held directorships in 11 companies simultaneously. She has also held faculty positions at the Colgate-Darden Business School of the University of Virginia from 1984, the School of Business Administration at Georgetown University, and at the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration.

Elected to join the Wellesley College Board of Trustees in 1982, she said, “I yield to no one when it comes to my love of Wellesley College. It has meant everything to me.” Malone has established the Katharine Malone Prizes for Academic Excellence as a tribute to her mother, Katharine, and a symbol of commitment to the institution she loves. The goal of this award is to “praise and reward those Wellesley scholars exemplifying the outstanding qualities of mind, body and spirit described in Plato’s ideal of the education of the Guardian.”
