Solve: to find a value we can put in place of a variable that makes the equation true.
Solution: a value, or values, that satisfies the equation
Expression: Numbers, symbols and operators (such as + or - grouped together that show the value of something.) (None of these signs: = ≠ < > ≤ )
Equation: A Mathematical statement that two things are equal
Expanding brackets: involves multiplying every term inside the bracket by the term on the outside. (Multiplying out). Then collect like terms with the aim of removing the bracket(s).
Turning point: of a quadratic graph is its minimum point or its maximum point.
Sketching quadratic graphs: is slightly different to plotting quadratic graphs. A sketch shows the key points (the roots, the y-intercept and the turning point).
Quadratic Formula: is a formula that provides the solutions to quadratic equations.
Completing the square: is a really useful method for solving quadratic equations and identifying the turning point of a quadratic.
