Safety & Security
Weld RE 5J Safety and Security works to ensure the safety of all students, staff, and visitors to any Weld RE 5J School.
It is our goal to maintain a safe and secure learning environment that allows every student the opportunity to flourish and realize their full potential for academic success. We are able to do this because of our collaborative efforts with the entire community, which also includes the school board, staff, parents, local businesses, and government agencies.
The District believes that staff, parents, students, and community members play a part in keeping learning environments safe. Each group has a specific responsibility:
Staff members should model safe behavior, monitor student and visitor behavior, and reinforce our student behavior expectations. Additionally, staff members should examine facility requirements on a regular basis, create and take part in safety committees, plan and execute safety exercises, and collaborate to develop prevention or preparedness strategies for safe schools.
Parents or family members should be aware of the safety and security measures in place at their child's school, reinforce the district-established behavioral expectations, take part in meetings dedicated to discussing school safety, and notify school administration when they have reliable information to share.
Students are essential to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment in schools. Students report potential threats or danger, have a safe place to report, and have faith that dependable adults will act on tips.
Community members can best support safe school efforts by modeling safe behaviors every day. Demonstrating empathy, respect, and positive interpersonal relationships as a community sets a social standard that fosters a strong culture across our communities.
Community groups, businesses, and organizations can contribute to school crisis preparedness by lending their time, skills, or facilities to schools for usage.
Weld RE 5J is committed to developing and implementing a safe and secure learning through district-wide practices.
