Good afternoon Parents/Guardians of WMS Musical Theater Club students!
We are moving quickly towards our performance next Friday!
The dress/tech rehearsals at Windsor High School on Wednesday and Thursday from 4:30-6:30 pm are both mandatory. We cannot create a space for your student on stage if they are not present. Please also send a snack for your student to eat after school and before rehearsal begins. If they want to walk over with a group, have them come to the Drama room after school ends.
I apologize, but my original parent letter included an incorrect time. The performance is next Friday, Feb. 25th at 6:30 pm (not 4:30 pm). Students should arrive at 6:00 pm and go to the WHS choir room.
Students should be practicing their numbers at home. Practice tracks and sheet music can be found on our website.
What to wear: On the night of the performance, students should wear dressy, solid black clothing all the way down to shoes: dresses, pants, collared shirts, skirts (no short skirts please), etc. No t-shirts, sweats, or graphics. School dress code standards apply. Those doing solos/duets/and small group numbers may bring one colorful accessory (like a scarf) that pertains to their character.
The show will last approximately 90 minutes. It is also our one and only fundraiser for the year, so please bring any cash/check donations you'd like to drop in our collection box at the door.
Lastly, our cast party is Tuesday, March 1st from 4:15-5:45 pm. We could use some food donations if any parents are able.
Thanks again for your support! Your students are working very hard and we're all excited to share our show with you next Friday!
Kind regards,
Becky Pollyea
P.S. We still need COVID waivers for some students. They can be turned into our main office or emailed to: denice.wojtysiak@weldre4.org. If your student already has a waiver on file for another extra-curricular, they do not need to do another one.
Everyone must fill out a COVID Waiver to participate. Turn it in to the main office or email it to: denice.wojtysiak@weldre4.org
Rehearsals are on Tuesdays from 4:15-5:45 in the Choir/Drama room.
Monday, December 13th, Tuesday, December 14th, and Wednesday, Dec. 15th from 4:15-5:45 pm. Please sign up for a time on the bulletin board outside the WMS Choir/Drama room (should be up by Dec. 3rd). Be prepared to stay a bit longer in case we are running late.
Performers:
What to prepare: Sing 16 bars (or one minute) of a song from a Broadway musical. You may also choose to do a short dance or monologue for us. A speaker system will be available to plug into, so bring any music backing tracks on a device. You may also sing a' capella.
Behind the Scenes Roles:
In addition to performers, we are seeking enthusiastic, responsible students to fill backstage roles. These might include being a director's assistant, a spotlight operator, helping to write the script, working on promotion, etc. If you are interested, please sign up outside the drama/choir room for an interview time. You'll fill out an application and then we'll talk to you for a few minutes to get to know you, your talents, and interests.
The cast and crew list will be posted here on this website on Friday, December 17th by 4:15 pm.
Forms (these will be provided at the auditions or you may print them off and bring them):
Rehearsals will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 11th and will run each Tuesday from 4:15-5:45 pm until Feb. 15. You may not need to be at each rehearsal, depending upon your role.
Cast members will be expected to work on their numbers at home as well, as we have limited rehearsal time.
During the week of the performance, we will also have two longer dress and tech rehearsals: Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 23rd and 24th from 4:30pm-6:30pm. Please see our calendar below for all date and times.
Our performance will be Friday, Feb. 25th at 6:30 pm. Participants should arrive at 6:00 pm. The show will run approximately one hour.
We will hold a cast party on Tuesday, March 1st from 4:15pm-5:45 pm at school. Feel free to bring food and treats.
