What is Screencastify?
Screencastify is an extension in Chrome that has the ability to record a user's single tab or whole screen on their laptop. Recording allows for the option of webcam usage and microphone to share out with others.
How does this benefit my students?
Create: Record videos and edit with the easy to use tools.
Share: Share your video in seconds with the Watch Page, track who viewed, and add checks for understanding.
Assess: Check Understanding with Interactive Questions that check viewer comprehension. Then, see the responses in real time.
Brainstorm ways in which you utilize recording videos, find an opportunity to utilize Screencastify. You will be creating, editing, and sharing your videos.
Create a minimum of five different Screencastify videos. The following features can be incorporated in one Screencastify video or across multiple videos.
Microphone usage (selected prior to pressing “record”)
Webcam (selected prior to pressing “record”)
Browser Tab vs. Desktop (selected prior to pressing “record”)
Annotation/toolbar features (must use minimum of three) (options available during recording)
Mouse circle
Penning
Rectangle
Stickers
Eraser
After recording your videos, choose a minimum of two videos to edit using the “Editor” feature.
You must use a minimum of two different editing tools:
Cut
Crop
Zoom
Blur
Once all five videos are ready to share, use the following features:
Monitor viewers
Export Video features
Share settings:
Go to “Show Share Settings” and edit the “Watch Page Share Settings” to “Anyone with this link”.
