Hello and welcome to 1st Grade!

My name is Melissa Carlson and I have been teaching at Westwood since 2012. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Education from St. Norbert College with focuses in Language Arts and ESL. I have a Masters in Education from Viterbo University with a Reading 316 and a Principal license.

My family is from Germantown, WI. I value spending time with my family, friends, and being active! In college, I had the wonderful opportunity to run cross country and track at St. Norbert and I've done my best to continue with the fitness part of my life. During the fall, I am an assistant coach for Cross Country at West De Pere High School. In spring, I am an assistant coach for Track and Field at West De Pere Middle School.

First grade is always busy and exciting! In our classroom, we work hard and have lots of fun as we learn! We treat one another with respect and work to learn from our mistakes. Every day is different and I am committed to helping each of my students succeed. I look forward to learning and working with you this year!
