SHEAFE ROAD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Welcome!
All of our art lessons follow the National Core Art Standards and the WCSD Art Curriculum Outcomes. Across the WCSD, children learn about the elements and principles of art through different artists, styles, and cultures around the world. Using a variety of art materials, tools, and technology, students learn to appreciate art and its' place in the world, along with understanding their roles and abilities as an artist. All students, K-6, receive art instruction 1-2 times per week.
Meet the Teacher: Mrs. Salvestrini
Following the footsteps of my mother, I began teaching art in the year 2000. Sheafe has been my second "home" since 2002, after teaching a couple of years at Myers Corners, Fishkill Plains, Gayhead, & Brinkerhoff Elementary Schools.
Most of my childhood was spent playing outdoors with my friends, making art, dancing, swimming, and participating in plays at church and school. Adventures to NYC were always a favorite pasttime, so attending college at the Fashion Institute of Technology was a dream come true after I graduated high school. After a brief career as a jewelry designer, I landed in New Paltz where I began my journey as a "career student," where I studied Metalsmithing, Art Education, and Humanistic/Multicultural Education. Surprisingly, this "city girl" fell in love with the area and never left!
I currently live in New Paltz with my lovely husband, 2 incredible teenagers, and 3 crazy cats.
Sheafe Road is a magical place to work & a fun place to learn!!
