2) To provide a foundation from which students can draw upon for success in college biology courses.

3) To encourage critical thinking and to promote scientific literacy.

4) To develop proper techniques to be used in a science laboratory.

5) To develop scientific research skills through the planning and implementation of the students own research project, along with other projects.

6) To improve the students knowledge and use of technology through the development of a power point slideshow.

7) To improve the students ability to speak publicly through the presentation of projects in class.

8) To encourage an interest and curiosity in science which causes students to question the living world in which we live.

The Honors Living Environment curriculum is based on required material from Standard 4 of the New York State Learning Standards for Math, Science and Technology. Scientific inquiry (Standard 1), laboratory skills (Standard 6) and problem solving (Standard 7) are also stressed throughout the curriculum.
