with Mrs. Salvestrini

I am super excited to begin another school year at Orchard View Alternative School and John Jay High School!! I strive to make learning fun through experimentation, demos, and critiques, while encouraging my students to be as creative as possible. Using a variety of art materials, tools, and technology, we will learn to appreciate art and its' place in the world, along with understanding our roles and abilities as artists. Daily participation is essential for all courses.

All of our art lessons follow the National Core Art Standards

Meet the Teacher: Mrs. Salvestrini

I have been teaching art in the Wappingers Central School District since the spring of 2000. Sheafe Road Elementary School was my "second home" for 20 years! Early in my career, I also taught at Myers Corners, Fishkill Plains, Gayhead, & Brinkerhoff Elementary Schools, as well as FDR High School in Hyde Park.

Most of my childhood was spent playing outdoors with my friends, making art, dancing, swimming, and participating in plays at church and school.  Adventures to NYC were always a favorite past time, so attending college at the Fashion Institute of Technology was a dream come true after I graduated high school.  After a brief career as a jewelry designer, I landed in New Paltz where I began my journey as a "career student," where I studied Metalsmithing, Art Education, and Humanistic/Multicultural Education.  Surprisingly, this "city girl" fell in love with the Hudson Valley and never left!

I currently live in New Paltz with my lovely husband, 2 incredible (yet sometimes cranky) teenagers, and 3 crazy cats. I'm an avid fan of the NY Giants, I love Broadway musicals, and spend a lot of my "free time" remodeling our home.

Building relationships with my students is always a priority and I look forward to working with all of you!
