1. In GoGuardian, select Classrooms.
2. For the class you want to start, select the time limit of the Session from the drop menu.
2A. You can also create a custom time limit for the session by selecting Custom End Time. Enter the time in the box.
3. Decide whether or not to enable the Chat. When you enable the Chat feature, you still must click on a student's name in the class to send a message. We will show you how to send a message through the Chat at Step 10.
4. When you are ready to start the GoGuardian session, click Start Class.
5. If you decide to enable Scenes that you have already created to restrict student access to certain websites, click No Scene Applied. Note: If you are not familiar with Scenes and how to create them, check out the tutorial on how to Create Scenes.
6. Select the Scene you want to add to this Classroom Session.
7. This is what the session looks like with all students in the class online at the same time. Here, you can see each student’s monitor under their name. In this example, we have NOT enabled any Scenes.
8. You can check on a particular student’s device by hovering over the student name and clicking the gray Click to Expand box.
9. Here is what this student’s screen looks like.
9A. In this example, the student has two tabs open on their device: YouTube and the WCS SSO Portal page. However, the student is currently looking at YouTube while she is supposed to be working on a class activity. The teacher can close YouTube by clicking the RED CLOSE button. This will turn off the website on the student’s device. Whatever website the student is currently viewing, the CLOSE button will be red in color.
10. You can also type a private message to the student in the Chat box. Click the Chat tab at the top of the page.
11. Make sure the Chat is enabled for the student. The message will only go to the student you select since you have to click on the student's name to send a chat message.
12. Type your message in the message box at the bottom and click Send.
13. This is what the message you typed looks like on the student’s device.
