Microsoft PowerPoint has long prided itself on having a feature where you can set a timer to automatically advance the slides. Google Slides now also has this feature! This tutorial shows you how to set each slide to present for a specified amount of time and then to automatically advance to the next slide. Here's how to do it:
1.Open your Google Slides presentation.
2. Click File in the top row of options.
3. From the dropdown menu, click Share.
4. Select Share with others.
5. Click the small black arrow next to the Restricted tab.
6. From the dropdown menu, select which group of people with whom you want to share the presentation. (A) Restricted means that only people with whom you send the link to the Presentation will be able to access it. (B) Washington County Public Schools means that anyone in the Washington County Public Schools group can access the presentation. (C) Anyone with the link is the most freely accessible option. It means that anyone surfing the internet who has the link to this slideshow can access the Presentation.
If you are using the presentation for class and do not want to share it with anyone, select the (A) Restricted option.
7. Click Done.
8. Click File in the top row of options.
9. From the dropdown menu, click Share.
10. Select Publish to the Web.
11. Select your slide transition length from the dropdown menu.
12. Check the box to Start slideshow as soon as the player loads. You can also check the second box to Restart the slideshow after the last slide if you want the slideshow to play on a loop.
13. Click Published Content & Settings.
14. Click Start Publishing.
15. Click OK.
16. A link will be generated. Copy the link, open a new tab in Google, and paste the link in the URL address bar. Press Enter and the slideshow will automatically open and start playing. The slides will automatically change based on the time you selected.
Note: You can stop the slideshow from automatically playing anytime by clicking on it. You can then take control of the slide transitions yourself. If you need to play the slideshow again, paste the link to the slideshow in the URL address bar and press Enter to play. You can share the link to the presentation if needed, but if you just want to use the presentation for class, do not share the link with anyone.
Congratulations! You have now set a timer for each slide to automatically change on your Google Slides presentation!
