Keep your Google Chrome Bookmarks and Extensions connected to your
Google Account
Google Chrome Sync is a way to keep your Google Chrome Bookmarks and Extensions connected to your WCS Google account. Your Chrome Bookmarks and Extensions are normally installed on your laptop. If you log into a different computer with your WCS account, you will not see those Bookmarks and Extensions. With Google Chrome Sync, you can log into any computer with your WCS account and your Bookmarks and Extensions will show up as well. Google Chrome Sync is especially handy if you get a new laptop and need to move your Bookmarks and Extensions from your old laptop to your new one.
Note: If your Google Sync is already turned on, you are good to go and your Bookmarks and Extensions will automatically transfer to your new laptop. However, if it is not turned on, here is how to enable it:
1. Open the Google Chrome browser and sign into your WCS account on your old laptop.
2. Click the Google Chrome Sync icon located in the top right corner of your screen. This is the smaller of the two icons that show your WCS Google Account profile picture.
3. Click Turn on Sync.
4. This will sync all of your Bookmarks and Chrome Extensions to your Google Account. Click Yes, I’m In.
5. Now sign into your WCS Google Account on your new laptop.
6. On the new laptop, click the blank profile picture icon in the upper right corner.
7. Click Continue as (Your Name).
8. Click Continue.
9. Click Yes, I’m In to turn on Google Chrome Sync on the new laptop.
10. The Bookmarks and Google Extensions should now be visible to you on the new laptop. The Bookmarks Bar should show the same Bookmarks you had on your old laptop. You can locate the additional Bookmarks by clicking the double right arrows. Using the Google Chrome Sync method ties the Bookmarks and Extensions to your WCS Google Account. You can log into any device with your WCS Google Account and see your Bookmarks and Extensions.
11. The extensions are visible next to the URL address bar.
Note: You can leave Google Chrome Sync on after you finish. If you do not want to leave Google Chrome Sync on, you can turn it off, and your Bookmarks and Extensions will remain on your new laptop. However, any future bookmarks or extensions you add will not automatically save to your Google Account nor sync to your other devices.
Note: Be sure to sign out of your Google account on your old laptop before you turn it in to IT.
