I was born and raised in Austin, TX! I always knew I wanted to be a teacher, so I started working with children at a young age. I spent time in my early 20's working at a daycare and then nannying as I went through college. I graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor's in Interdisciplinary Studies EC-6th ESL. (Go Bobcats!)
I began my teaching career in 2012 at Cypress Elementary in Leander ISD (Cedar Park, TX). I have taught many grade levels including; Kindergarten, 1st Grade, 4th Grade, and this will be my seventh year teaching 5th Grade. This will be my fifth year at White Oak and I am thrilled to continue teaching at such an incredible school!
Fifth graders are at a fascinating stage of development. They're transitioning from elementary to middle school, which means they're gaining more independence and critical thinking skills. It’s exciting to witness and guide their growth during this pivotal time. I believe that building strong relationships with my students helps create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Fifth graders often have a great sense of humor and can be quite entertaining. Their personalities can make the classroom a lively and fun place, which can make teaching a joyful experience.
My family and I moved from Austin the summer of 2021, and reside in Holly Springs. My daughter Camilla is an 8th grader at Holly Ridge Middle School and my son, Finn is a rising 4th grader here at White Oak! My husband Larkin is a nurse in the Cath Lab at WakeMed Cary.
Some of my favorite places to explore are the mountains and the many beaches in North Carolina! We also enjoy yummy food, listening to live music, and finding family-friendly patios when the weather is nice!
I love to travel, spend time with family & friends, READ, dance, and have FUN!
