About the teachers:
Ms. Su: I am Sujata Shirsekar, Academically and Intellectually Gifted (AIG) teacher. I have worked in the WCPSS system for 20 years. I have two wonderful children who are NC State grads! We are a Wolfpack family! We love to travel and explore different places, restaurants and foods. I am very passionate about teaching. My students become my second family. Together we spend almost 180 days together and truly become part of each other’s lives. Looking forward to an amazing year with the children!!
Mrs. Joyce: I feel fortunate to be working at White Oak ES ! I have worked as an AIG teacher for 14 years. Previous to AIG, I was an instructional coach and a third-grade teacher. I have 2 children - a 2020 graduate from the University of South Carolina who is pursuing a career in fashion in New York City, and a freshman at App State. When I'm not working, I am walking, working out at Lifetime Fitness, reading, or spending time with my family.

*Spring - nomination deadline is 1/3/2025

All current 3rd graders will be screened with the Cognitive Abilities Test during the 2024-2025 school year, as part of the WCPSS universal screening. Select students will then take the IOWA Assessments in reading and math.
Early Kindergarten Entry Information:
Early Kindergarten Entry
Wake County Public School System considers Early Kindergarten Entry (EKE) to be equivalent to Whole Grade Advancement or the skipping of a grade. A candidate for EKE must show advanced development in intellectual, academic, social, and emotional maturity in addition to an interest in learning. Early Kindergarten Entry (EKE) is for families whose child turns four years old on or before April 16th of the previous school year.
A child must score at the 98th percentile or higher on a standardized intelligence battery administered by a licensed psychologist or licensed psychological associate in order to be considered for the EKE program. The child must also perform at or above the 98th percentile on a standardized reading or math achievement battery.
Families should not submit applications directly to the school. Applications should be sent to Crossroads I- WCPSS, 5625 Dillard Drive Cary, NC 27518 Attn: Intervention & Advanced Learning Services.
Once the packet is reviewed for completion, it will be forwarded to the appropriate school. Families may submit questions around Early Kindergarten Entry to eke@wcpss.net. This is the link to EKE information and processes, which is available on the WCPSS Home Page.
