Hello Explorer families! Here is the newest update about different Art opportunities going on in the county and also about what is going on in Ms. Keller's Art classes. Right now Google is having their annual "Doodle 4 Google" art competition! If you are interesting in getting your kids involved, here is the link to find out more information about the competition and how to submit their work. DOODLE 4 GOOGLE The last day to submit is December 3rd, so if your interested, make sure to start drawing now!
November is a short month with lots of Teacher Workdays and Holidays, but we are still as busy as ever with our fabulous artmaking! 5th Graders are in the middle of coming up with original artwork for the Doodle 4 Google contest that follows this year's theme of "Your superpower is...". Students must use their imaginations and their creative thinking abilities to redesign the Google Logo into their own unique artwork. 4th Grade is taking inspiration from the Renaissance period and creating their own Stained Glass Windows using watercolor and black glue. It's a bit messy but the end results are very cool! For our 3rd Graders, they will use the annual Macy's Day Parade as their inspiration for their art project. Student's are tasked with coming up with their own Parade "Balloon" to glue onto their drawn cityscapes that use one-point perspective.
As the days are getting colder, 2nd Grade is creating Sleeping Animal Collages in honor of all our furry friends who are getting ready for the winter. They also get to practice their weaving skills with a "Woven Blanket" they are making using paper and watercolor paper they designed. In order to show our gratitude towards all the fabulous thing and people in our lives, 1st Graders are drawing and coloring slices of "Gratitude" pie. It's been so much fun learning about all the things the students are thankful for in their lives. And finally, Kindergarten is coming up with their own Thanksgiving Feast and creating plates of food with all their favorites. We read the book "I know an Old Lady who Swallowed a Pie," a Thanksgiving twist to a classic tale, and the students are now finishing up gluing their plates to their placemats with all their silverware.
Going into December, students will start on Winter themed projects, including projects like Nutcrackers, Snow Globes, Snowman and more.
