Today marks the release of the inaugural edition of The Lightning Bolts, a newspaper born from the creative minds of two 7-4 classrooms. Crafted by the very students of our school, The Lightning Bolts cover an array of topics spanning from sports to news and opinions. Currently exclusive to two 7-4 classrooms, our paper aspires to open its doors to every student for writing and editing, with the enthusiastic support of our readers.
Looking ahead, we envision expanding our reach and inviting more writers to contribute diverse topics to our paper, making it accessible and enjoyable for all. But why should you read The Lightning Bolts? Not only does it provide valuable insight for those considering a future in journalism, but it also serves to inform students about school affairs, presents information engagingly, and keeps both students and staff updated.
Poul Prip, team leader of 7-4, expressed, “I think I was just trying to think of how you as students would benefit from what's happening in the school and have a sense of what’s happening in the world and also build skills thinking about how to tell a story and what you can build with a sense of community in the school.” Such dedication from our teachers underscores their commitment to enhancing our educational experience.
We extend a warm welcome to our readers to embark on this journey with us, as together, we strive to enrich every student's knowledge and skills. Let us unite to elevate The Lightning Bolts to greater heights within our school community, paving the way for collaboration with other tracks, grades, and beyond in the near future.
