     Art Class Syllabus    

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Art students will learn foundational skills in a variety of media, be expected to keep sketchbooks as a record of learning, and create a digital portfolio with a written reflection for each project. 

ATTENDANCE

Attendance will be taken during each class period. It is important that you communicate any issues you have with attending class with me so we can make a plan. 

GRADING

Each student is graded on an individual basis. No cross-class comparisons will be made. I grade on my expectations of you and your growth as an individual. Your projects will be graded using a rubric.

Your total grade will be broken down in the following way: 

LATE POLICY

Assignments are due on the due dates.  If assignments are turned in within 2 weeks of the due date it will automatically be dropped by 20% (max grade of a 80).  Past 2 weeks the work will not be accepted unless discussed previously. 

SUGGESTED MATERIALS

• Spiral Bound or book bound sketchbook (please no glue binding)

• Watercolor/Acrylic paint brush set

Donations of sketchbooks, paint brush sets, old magazines, Clorox wipes, or tissues would be very much appreciated!
