We are a "School Choice Pantry". This means that when requesting a bag you will choose from a list of items available that week. This helps to prevent waste.
We can guarantee bags for Friday pick-up if requests are completed by noon on Thursdays. Student and staff volunteers will pack bags on Thursday afternoons for Friday pick-up.
Bags can be picked up in either the Main Office or Student Services on Fridays. Parents picking up should come to the school before 1:00 PM to avoid carpool.
Appointments available for alternate pick-up times by email request:
jmelvin@wcpss.net
rjennings@wcpss.net
Complete the form by noon on Thursdays
Stop by Trailer 2 on Friday to pick up your bag
Please note: For grant purposes, we are required to capture basic demographic information in the order form.
The Spartan Food Pantry will receive monthly orders from the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle organization, however, donations are still needed. If you are able, we accept shelf stable food and personal hygiene donations throughout the school year.
If you would like to donate to the pantry, you can do so in a few ways:
Add items to your regular grocery list - find a list of ideas on our Wish List page
Shop our Amazon Wish List and have it delivered directly to the school
Host a food drive with your business, church, neighborhood, or friend group
If you any questions or concerns about donating to the pantry, please contact Ms. Jennings and Ms. Melvin (rjennings@wcpss.net and jmelvin@wcpss.net)
We encourage the SHS student clubs and organizations to sign up to volunteer in the following ways:
Pack bags on Thursday afternoons
Host a food drive to support the pantry
Stock the shelves on delivery days
If your SHS club or organization would like to volunteer in the pantry, please contact Ms. Jennings and Ms. Melvin (rjennings@wcpss.net and jmelvin@wcpss.net)

The Spartan Food pantry started in 2023 as a small initiative by Sanderson's chapter of the Food Ark club. The club was awarded a small grant to start a pantry for food insecure Spartan students. Over the last two years we have been able to serve many students and families, however, we knew we needed to grow to better be able to meet the needs of community.
This year, we are excited to be teaming up with the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle to open a brand new food pantry! The Spartan Food Pantry will serve the Spartan community, including students, staff, and families.
The support of the Spartan community has not only sustained the pantry for the past two years, but we've been able to grow our pantry this year with their help. We would like to recognize the following organizations for their support:
Sanderson PTO and Spartan community for food donations
The Key Club has played a significant role in keeping our pantry shelves full over the last two years
Class of 2024 for gifting shelving for the pantry space
SHS Foundation for donating a refrigerator so we can have fresh items in our pantry this year
We look forward to continuing to work with our partners to server the Spartan community for many years.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Rashunda Jennings (rjennings@wcpss.net) and Jennifer Melvin (jmelvin@wcpss.net)
