Hola! Welcome to the 2021 - 2022 school year. Soy la señora Correa and I have been at HMS since 2013. I teach exploratory Spanish for 6th grade, Spanish 1 for 7th grade students. In 8th grade, students take a yearlong Spanish course that fulfills their Spanish 1 high school credit.
My goal as a Spanish Teacher is for students to relate the Spanish curriculum to their daily lives and have a relevant understanding of the Spanish language and culture. The class culture that I create along with the students is to have mutual respect, kindness, and cooperation. Parents, students and I are a team that support each other and learn together.
6th Grade Exploratory Spanish
Prerequisite: None
This quarter-long course is an introduction to the Spanish language and culture.
7th Grade Spanish Beginning
Prerequisite: None
This semester-long course begins the study of the Spanish language and culture and is the first part in the Spanish curriculum series for high school credit. Major topics include greetings, classroom objects, everyday activities, expressing likes and dislikes, adjectives, subject pronouns, the present tense of regular verbs, definite and indefinite articles, and the plurals of nouns and articles.
8th Grade Spanish Advanced Spanish
Prerequisite: Spanish Beginning
This year-long course continues the study of the Spanish language and culture, refining grammatical and vocabulary topics. Students who complete this course successfully and who pass the exit exam (worth 20% of the overall grade) may take Spanish II at the high school level.

Almost all of our work assignments, projects, quizzes, tests and calendar will be submitted online via Google Classroom. Each student is given a WCPSS Google Apps account, managed by the school. I will be posting notes, handouts, assignments, and projects to Google Classroom. There is not a parent portal in Google Classroom, but by using your your child log in with their Google Apps ID, you can see what they are doing in class. Translators- Google, Bing, Etc
You are NOT allowed to use any kind of translation tools to complete work for this class. It is easy for me to know when you have used one, so please be honest.
Instead of a translator you can use www.wordreference.com
- This is a DICTIONARY, not a translator! The difference is that a dictionary does not conjugate verbs for you.
