Men's Basketball vs. Davis Drive - Monday, January 27th - by Coach Alexander

The Eagles soared into Davis Drive Middle last night for their rematch with the Panthers. The Eagles came out of the opening tip, hungry for their first win and jumped to a quick 7 – 0 lead. Davis Drive responded with an 11 – 2 run to take the lead going into the second quarter.

The Eagles made the needed adjustments and responded with outstanding defensive play to take away the Davis Drive double screening, dribble drive penetration. Misean Rodgers & Tayshawn Ingle partnered up to disrupt the Panther’s offense while T.J. Kendrick connected from the 3-point line to take momentum and pull to a 24 – 21 Davis Drive lead going into the halftime break.

TJ Kendrick finished this tough matchup with 10 points, 3 steals 2 rebounds. Tayshawn Ingle finished with 11 points, 4 steals, 3 rebounds. And DK Bryant chalked his name into the stat sheets finishing with 4 points. Misean Rodgers is the Eagles Player of the Game. Misean finished with a double-double, chalking 11 rebounds and 18 points into the stat sheets to lead all scorers.

The Eagles came out of the halftime break and continued their momentum with an early 6 – 0 run to reclaim the lead. Going into the 4th quarter, with the Eagles leading 34 – 29 the Panthers mounted their final come back. Pounding the ball inside, Davis Drive took a 4-point lead but once again, the Eagles adjusted defensively. The Eagle’s full-court pressure defense created multiple turnovers followed by the three-point shooting of T.J. Kendrick and Misean Rodgers.

With 6 seconds left in the game and the Eagles up 43-42, Davis Drive called their final timeout but the Eagles were ready. The full court pressure was simply too much for the Panthers and the Eagles clinched their first win of the season over the Panthers of Davis Drive.

Congratulation guys on this long-awaited victory! Let’s keep it going for the Homecoming matchup against Salem Middle on Thursday! Keep Fighting Eagles and Congratulations!!
