About
Joan Ruth Bader was born to Nathan Bader and Celia Amster at Beth Moses Hospital Brooklyn, New York. Her older sister died when she was a baby, and her mother died shortly before Ginsburg graduated from high school. She then earned her bachelor's degree at Cornell University.
Personal life
A few days after she graduated from Cornell, she married Martin D. Ginsburg. They were a perfect fit, he was supportive and helped at home while RBG finished law school and her career took off. Their marriage is a good model of equality. Their daughter, Jane C. Ginsburg , is a professor at Columbia Law School. Their son, James Steven Ginsburg, is the founder and president of Cedille Records. Ginsburg was a grandmother of four.
Star Case: Virginia Military Institution
One of the most important cases was about the Virginia Military Institution. VMI made a male-only policy and said that they would make a parallel program for women. It was to be called the “Virginia Women's Institute” but Ginsburg knew that they would not provide the women with the same training and opportunities as they would provide the men. to provide justice to the women Ruth Bader Ginsburg created a very important precedent for future gender discrimination cases.
Health
Ginsburg had surgery for colon cancer in 1999 and for pancreatic cancer in 2009. On November 8, 2018, she was hospitalized after fracturing three ribs in a fall.
On August 24, 2019, it was revealed that Ginsburg underwent radiation treatment for pancreatic cancer over the summer. In July 2020, she announced that she had liver cancer.
On September 18, 2020, Ginsburg died from problems caused by metastatic pancreatic cancer.
