Why I am not a fan of Foldable Phones

By: VProPlayer, January 13, 2021

If you’d go up to someone and told them about foldable phones in 2015, they would laugh and take it as a concept. Now in 2021, it is a reality. But are these phones really useful in daily life or just a fun concept to play with?

Daily Usage

Is the phone comfortable for daily usage? I’d say no, and here’s why - the point of a foldable phone is to have two screens which can be folded into one, thus creating a smaller phone to carry, but if you really wanted a nice and big screen then you could just opt-in for a tablet. Makes more sense because it is a larger display and with better app integration. Another thing is that foldable phones, once folded become fat, like seriously, it feels like a TV Remote in your pocket.

As you can see here with the current leading foldable phone, the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 - it is literally a TV Remote. So it really is a pain to carry around.

What can it be used for?

I think that foldable phones do have a purpose, but it is not everyday use, I think they have more of a commercial purpose. For example, waiters can use these for digital order taking. Another use would be maintenance workers who usually come in to fix stuff in your house. They really don’t have an everyday, consumer purpose.

Some concepts

I think that now that we have mastered the art of folding screens, I would love to see a folding tablet because that would be great to have - we could have a 10” display open up to a 15” or 20” display. And because of its size, it would only be as thick as perhaps an everyday laptop. I would also love to see a TV Remote concept with this, shifting the controls easily, we could have a trackpad on the display, or keyboard on the display as well. We could also have pause/play controls on the display that show up instead of on the TV. This really is what foldable technology would make sense and would work well.

Tech for Kids: Benefits and Consequences

by BookBolts, November 2020

Many people are giving their kids Ipads, tablets, and phones, especially now. A survey conducted last years said half the kids in the United States of America have a phone by the age of 11, and 83% of teenagers have it. Now don’t think I’m hating on people who have phones, I’m only here to tell the benefits and consequences of having one.

Benefits

  1. It’s good to be able to contact your relatives, in case of an emergency.

  2. Now, during the pandemic , it is good to contact your friends and be as social as you can.

  3. It teaches kids responsibility, and how to care properly for their phones.

Consequences

  1. Kids can get addicted to social media, and spend more time in the cyber world than the real one

  2. Kids can break it, and they are expensive

  3. Kids will spend too much time staring at a screen, and that can cause eye issues, like poisonous molecules that cause macular degeneration.

  4. Kids may not get enough sleep because the blue glow from a phone can cause the brain to stay awake.

  5. Kids may be exposed to a harmful environment

There are some ways to solve these issues and manage a phone properly. Have a limited screen time, or like pick a time of the day to play video games. Don’t look at a screen for an hour before bed. Choose websites that are safe and secure.

Watch the screen from a good distance, so not too close to the screen. Make sure you have a screen protector and a phone case. Manage your social media wisely, and play outside some more. If you have a phone, please manage it wisely!

2020 Technology

by BookBolts, October 27, 2020

Many new types of technology are coming to the world, helping us do new things, interact with the world, help us with our everyday lives, and some things are just for fun. So we are writing about all these cool and new things coming and that are already here. The future starts now!

LG Wing

The brand-new LG wing is here for a whopping $999! But is it worth it? The LG Wing has a 6.8 inch display, with wireless charging, and a really cool fingerprint sensor in the actual screen! However the cool feature is in the hardware. Which is that the screen is able to slide open!

But there are some negatives. It is not waterproof, and does not have an audio jack. Also, it is heavier, and can only turn clockwise. However other than that , it is a very nice piece of technology !

Galaxy Note 20 Ultra

This very cool phone is the future of note-taking. This phone however costs $1,300, which is very expensive.Although the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has a sharper display, superb cameras, and an S pen stylus which makes this phone stand out. Its display is a 6.9 inch, and has a glass backing. It also wirelessly charges, so that is a bonus. Although not everything is perfect. The Note 20 Ultra is also a tad bit heavier than other phones.

Galaxy Z Fold2 5g

This bending phone bends minds as well. The Galaxy fold has a surprisingly flexible buildup.

This phone/tablet starts out as a normal phone, and unfolds to reveal a surprise; Which is that is it is now a tablet!

Samsung has developed new technology to create hardware that bends, and it does not affect the quality. It has a 7.6 foldable display, and it lets you hold it like a phone, tablet, or even like a mini laptop! It has three angles for the camera, but it is a bit pricey. It costs 2,000 dollars! It is also heavier than a normal phone. However, if you are willing to consider the pros over the cons, this might be the right phone for you!

The Future of Technology

by TechTB, October 6, 2020

The future of technology will be full of new adventures and things we never even thought about in 2020.

The future is, factually speaking, uncertain. We don’t know if we’ll find a cure for cancer, the economic outlook, if we’ll be living in an algorithmic world or if our work cubicle mate will soon be replaced by a robot. While futurists can dish out some exciting and downright scary visions for the future of technology and science, there are no future facts. However, the uncertainty presents an opportunity.

Travel today is faster than it has ever been. In the future new ways to go places maybe even faster. People today are learning space travel. They are trying to find safe ways to go to other planets. In the future people may visit other planets for fun

Over time , the world’s population has grown. Population is the number of people who live in an area. There is only so much land on the Earth. In the future, there may not be enough land for all the people.

Some scientists think that one-day people might live on the moon. What people learn from studying space today may make life on the moon possible in the future.

FLYING CARS - A Flying car will be a mixture of cars and helicopters. When the flying car is invented by a great person, there are going to be sets of rules, like traffic rules, in the sky.

FUTURE OF GAMING - “Artificial intelligence is no longer the stuff of science fiction; it’s lodged itself into the fabric of our everyday lives — from Gmail’s Smart Compose to self-driving cars to facial recognition software. Video games are no exception.” by https://builtin.com/

Right now these days the most played game in Roblox, but later maybe in 3030 games will be artificial intelligence.

FUTURE OF EDUCATION - Education is evolving at a faster pace than any other period in recent history. There’s a growing awareness among educators and families that today’s curriculum needs to evolve to meet tomorrow’s reality. Kids will be using technology to do almost everything. For example, books will have computers in them, Virtual Reality is going to be used in school, and there will be touch finger whiteboards.

SIDE EFFECTS OF TECHNOLOGY - There are going to be a lot of side effects of the technology we build in the future. For example, eye pain or losing an eye can happen because everything will have a computer, and this will make our eyes weak. Dry eye syndrome is a problem for your eye. This happens when you watch the computer, TV, or Phone.
