This school year has been an interesting year to say the least. There are however, some big differences to last school year’s learning. Today, we’ll be looking at the differences between the two procedures, and ways we can improve each one.
At School: The Procedure
Most of us are familiar with the at school procedure used before digital learning. The day consisted of 7 class periods, homeroom, and lunch break. The 2nd period was an enrichment period where the students either participated in the class’s set activity or an online learning program named “dreambox”. Clubs took place either before or after the scheduled learning times (8:15 AM - 3:00 PM).
At Home: The Procedure
The Procedure for learning at home is quite similar to the at school procedure. Some major differences are the elimination of 2nd period, as well as the inclusion of the A day-B day system, which organizes which days you meet with your class.
How Can We Improve?
Both systems are great and efficient for helping students learn, but they both have their flaws. One complaint on the side of digital learning is that while in google meet and using in-class software, the pages would experience lag. Students would also have shaky internet connection, causing them to temporarily disconnect from google meet sessions. If there were distractions at the student’s home, the student could also have a hard time paying attention to the class. Some solutions to these problems are to make sure you work in a distraction free environment, as well as to sit in a place with good internet connection. In the event you do disconnect from a google meet session, be sure to contact your teacher to receive the information you missed. Aside from technical difficulties, at home learning works just as well as if not better than at school learning, though this is a matter of opinion. One thing is for sure, this school year will sure be exciting!
