Why there won’t ever be a MacBook SE

By: VProPlayer, January 26, 2021.

Apple has introduced the new SE lineup of its products, like the iPhone SE, the Apple Watch SE, and the iPad (basically the iPad SE). It only makes sense that they would introduce a MacBook SE right? Harder than you think.

The story of the original MacBook

There was a Mac that had the spot of the MacBook SE, it was the original MacBook. But Apple discontinued it in 2018. While it may have seemed unnecessary, the MacBook was colliding with another product, the MacBook Air. See, the MacBook was ultralight and had less CPU power, but the same was with the MacBook Air! The two laptops were exactly the same! And so, they removed the MacBook.

Why there can’t be one right now

A supposed MacBook SE’s features or (why to buy) would be mainly two things, the lower price point, and the lower-powered CPU, now those two categories are already taken. The iPad Air and the iPad Pro take the lower price point and the lower power CPU status, because you can get them for $599 plus the $300 keyboard. And naturally, it is going to be light. The iPads are the replacement for the MacBook SE. The MacBook SE doesn’t really have a position, and it likely never will.

Why I chose Apple EarPods as my Wired Earbuds

It’s 2021, and we all need to escape from the world outside at some point. I do that by listening to music - and I listen to music a LOT. I’ve found out that while wireless headphones are nice, wired headphones are a good alternative as well, especially if you are willing to go cheap, not worry about battery life, and don’t care about any of the premium features like Active Noise Cancellation. Because, if you are in a relatively quiet place, wired headphones do the job well.

And while I have seen and tested lots of wired headphones, there are a few reasons why I love EarPods over others:

  1. The Fit

Out of all headphones, these have fit my ears the best. The rest would always fall out, and I’m not saying these are the best for workouts or exercises, but for just a sit down listen or watching The Mandalorian, these are great. They stay in and don’t feel squished in your ears.

  1. Sound Quality

For wired earbuds, these sound really good! The bass and all are perfectly balanced, and they have really high-quality sound. Compared to other headphones, they don’t sound muffled or whatever. They sound crispy clear, and with some music, it feels as if they are shaking, which is something I love. The microphone is perfect, with crystal clear audio regardless of the distance from your mouth.

All in all

These are great earbuds, and if you want to ever grab yourself a pair of wired headphones then these are a great buy at Apple for $20. They don’t have all the high-end features but are good for avoiding things like battery charging, and with better battery life on your iPhone as an added benefit as well. There are two types of these headphones. There is the lightning version, which works on iPhone 5 and later, and the headphone jack version, which works on iPhone 6S or earlier. You can also get an adaptor.
