Many interesting things happened in the years 2017-2020. A lot of the affected students, mentally and sometimes even physically. Here's a quick lineup of some of the best Happenings.
The Fire Drill— Anyone who was at Reedy Creek in May last year remembers the infamous drill. It happened during End of Grade assessments, a time where nothing could go wrong. During the 7th grade lunch period, some students were still in testing sessions. I was in my Discovery period. I had just mumbled “I have such a bad headache” when suddenly the alarms went off. This couldn’t have been a drill, we all thought, and so everyone was on the verge of panic. We were all very unsettled as we headed back to our classrooms. It is said that this incident was caused by an older student kicking the fire alarm.
The Career Fail—This was more infuriating than wacky. Career Fair 2020 was supposed to be awesome: there were going to be lawyers, the CIA, etc. Even though we were being forced to dress nice it was still pretty exciting. Then the weather had to ruin the fun. So we rescheduled, going to school on a delay. Then they rescheduled again. I angrily put my outfit (the product of 2 excruciating hours) away. Then we found it was canceled due to “unforeseen circumstances” aka coronavirus. I was so excited to see the CIA.
Level Up Mrs. Dawson— Just after winter break last year, Mrs. Dawson made an announcement to her Social Studies class: she was leaving to train as an assistant principal. We were devastated. Mrs. Dawson was my first teacher at RCMMS, and she helped me adjust to the new setting. We weren't sad for long when we were introduced to our delightful new teacher, Mrs. Proctor. We missed our first teacher, but Mrs. Proctor (whom I endearingly called "Doctor Proctor") made our lessons fun and interactive.
