Mr. Mohn

About Mr. Mohn

I am happily beginning my 17th year of teaching! Previously, I worked for ten years in the graphic arts profession doing computer and technical work. I am an native of Dayton, Ohio but have lived in North Carolina since 1992. My wife and I live in Cary with our 12 year old twins and our 7-year-old son. I have two older children who live in Toronto, Canada and visit us during the summer and at holidays.

I am a proud graduate of the University of Kentucky and remain a loyal Wildcat basketball fan despite being in "enemy territory." When I have time I enjoy running and cycling. I have run the Marine Corps Marathon, 13 half marathons, and too many 10 milers, 10 k's and other races to count. Reading is a hobby too and I especially enjoy history and military/spy adventures. I am a shameless science fiction and fantasy geek. Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, and the Lord of the Rings are favorites!

3rd Grade memories

When I was in 3rd grade, my family lived in Honolulu, Hawaii because my father was in the U.S. Air Force. I attended Makalapa Elementary School and had three teachers: one for math, one for reading, and one for social studies and science. Some children actually attended school in bare feet - shoes were not required, but I wore them. Math was my hardest subject and my father had to help me often! One day, as a surprise, my parents picked my brother and I up from school early and took us to Pearl Harbor to go aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise aircraft carrier. This massive warship had arrived in port and my father was able to pull some strings . . . We were really into military things and so this was simply amazing!
