How to Show Respect to the Staff
Respecting teachers and other staff is extremely important, especially for a good school experience.
Transitioning into middle school can be challenging for 6th graders you’re moving on from Elementary, things you got off free with, you won’t in middle school. It’s necessary to keep in mind staff are people too. The 7th graders are right there in the middle. You learned how
to behave from 6th grade but you’re not exactly at the top. By 7th grade you should have an understanding of what most teachers like to see or how to behave but if you don’t this will help! Finally the 8th graders. The 8th graders are at the top, they should have a complete understanding of staff and how to treat them but it doesn’t always work that way. 8th graders are meant to be models to younger students which includes doing things that aren’t always expected. These are some complete tips on how to respect your teachers and staff.
- Make sure to be quiet when the staff asks you to be
- Raise your hand when having a question or quietly approach their desk when the class isn’t as busy
- Don’t talk in class unless instructed to do so
- Use polite and respectful language when talking to or emailing the staff - Finish your work by the best scheduled due date
- Show integrity, if you did something wrong or don’t understand; tell the staff member. If you see something, say something
- Don’t pressure the staff or threaten them
- Above all just listen to your teacher and/or the staff, showing that you’re listening and understanding what they are saying is a huge sign of respect and engagement with the subject. It shows the teacher you can be responsible and they can rely on you to get things done
