We have 5 strands of content that make up our SS standards.

The below strands of content are woven together within our curriculum! They are below in no particular order.

Social Studies Unit 1

Civics and Government

Students will be learn about the development, structure, and function of our US government.
We will learn beyond identifying our three branches of government and will begin to understand how they work together with checks and balances.
We will study our nation's documents to better understand our rights as citizens.
We will learn how our government continues to change and adapt with our growing and diversifying population.

Social Studies Unit 2

Geography and Environmental Literacy

Students will learn how human activity has shaped the United States.

Social Studies Unit 3

History

Students will learn key events in US history and the roles of prominent figures that that helped shape our country.
We will learn about colonization, the US Revolutionary War, how our country expanded west, challenges for indigenous, immigrants, and minorities throughout the 1700s, 1800s, and 1900s, the US Civil War, the Reconstruction period, and more.

Social Studies Unit 4

Culture

Students will learn by investigating how increased diversity resulted from migration, settlement patterns, and economic development in the United States.

Social Studies Unit 5

Economics

Students will learn about the market economy in the US and how our personal choices result in benefits or consequences.
