A Midsummer Night's Dream Tea Party

Today we started Module 2. This module focuses on William Shakespeare and his work "A Midsummer Night's Dream." In order to prepare for reading this play, students learned a little more about Shakespeare and the twelve major characters in AMSND. Students were assigned one of these characters and then participated in a "Tea Party" and "met" with the other characters learning more about their story. Students will finish this activity tomorrow in class.

After the Tea Party Activity

Today students completed the After the Tea Party activity on the main characters of "A Midsummer Night's Dream." In addition, we reviewed the Media Center Stations from Thursday & Friday. Finally, students received their Module 2 workbooks and "A Midsummer Night's Dream" books if they did not purchase their own.

Today students read and annotated "The Lure of Shakespeare" from their Module 2 workbook. After reading, students answered questions related to the universal appeal of Shakespeare.

The Shakespearean Shakedown

Today we discussed the theories surrounding the authenticity of Shakespeare. Students thought about the question "Did Shakespeare really write his plays?" and as a class we discussed both sides of this question. Finally, we began reading through "The Shakespearean Shakedown" in their Module 2 workbook.
