Welcome to ARMS Media Center! We have a growing collection of over 19,000 books and a variety of technology to help you complete assignments and explore your interests.

Students have direct access to the Media Center catalog from their WakeID portal. Click on the Follett icon and select Alston Ridge Middle School. You are now able to click on Destiny Discover from the menu on the left to search and place books on hold. You are also able to access over 220 audiobooks and 1600 ebooks and stream them directly to a school or personal device. Students can have five books checked out at a time. Books are due back after three weeks but can be renewed for a longer checkout.

ARMS has four different student devices: chromebooks, laptops, desktops and iPads.

Chromebooks allow students to log directly into their WakeID account by using the WakeID as your username and a personal password set with your teacher or Ms. Brennan in the Media Center during your first few days of school. Each student will be issued a Wake County chromebook supported by the county at the beginning of the 21-22 school year.
Silver laptops and desktops require an extra step to log onto our school network. The first time you log in your username and password will be your student number. The computer will then prompt you to reset your password. It must be at least 10 characters long. We recommend making the network password the same as your WakeID password. After logging onto the network, open the Chrome browser which will open to the school website. Next log into your WakeID portal by clicking on the WakeID icon under the school picture.
iPads allow you to use applications to supplement your teacher's instruction. Only use your student WakeID account to log into accounts. Make sure you logout of your Google accounts when you are done working.
Students are able to print on the Silver laptops in the Media Center. They are located by the green column. Chromebooks in classrooms and the Media Center do NOT print. There is no color printing available at school.

The ARMS website has a lot of important information about our school. Here are some highlights:

Academics: Hover over "Academics" and then choose your grade level or electives/HL to view your teacher's website. Each team has a homework calendar so you can view nightly and upcoming assignments.
Clubs: Go to Students > Clubs to view information about our clubs and to submit a proposal for a new club.
Media Center: Go to Students > Media Center to view information about our Media Center and important technology resources.
Student Services: Go to Students > Student Services to view resources from our Student Services department and sign-up to see a counselor.
Calendar: Check out the master calendar to see all of the awesome things happening at Alston Ridge.

Students can check their grades and see their schedule by clicking on the Homebase icon in their WakeID portal. Grades are updated regularly by teachers each week.

Parents can sign up for a separate parent account to check in on their student's progress. Parents should request access by visiting the Main Office to show proper identification.

Many classrooms use Google Tools to share information and complete assignments.

Some Google Tools you might use include: Google Classroom, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Forms, and Google Draw.

Make sure you are always logged into your WCPSS Student Account.

When collaborating with other classmates, make sure you don't delete their work or make changes that will affect their part of the project.
