About the Director


Heather Copley is in her 27th year as the Choral Director at Apex High School.  She holds a BA in Voice and a BM in Music Education from Meredith College.  Ms. Copley teaches Choir full time at Apex and serves as the Vocal Director for her school’s Musical each year.  She also serves as the PLC Coordinator for the High School Chorus Teachers in Wake County.   She enjoys mentoring new teachers.   Each year Ms. Copley also enjoys adjudicating MPA and working with All County and Festival Choirs around the State.   Ms. Copley enjoys leading workshops on Vocal Technique around the State. She served on the NCMEA High School Chorus Executive Board for many years.  Ms. Copley also has a small studio where she teaches private voice lessons.  


Ms. Copley was named NCMEA High School Choral Teacher of the year in 2017.  Her choirs have performed at NCMEA and NCACDA several times.  Her Choirs have toured England, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, and Germany.  They have also performed at Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center for Performing Arts and the Pearl Harbor Festival and Parade in Hawaii.  This year her choir will tour Ireland.


In her free time, she enjoys volunteering in her Church, scrapbooking, and spending time with her children Cameron and Meredith.
