Downloading  and Using Microsoft Teams

Microsoft teams is a freely available application for your BYOD device or home computer that will allow you to connect to your class and teacher from home. In the case of working from home, you will be required to connect with your classes on your device using Microsoft teams. There are two methods of using teams:

·        Teams online – requiring only a web browser

·        Installing the Teams app on your device

If you have difficulties with connecting to Microsoft Teams you need to email helpdesk@wccs.nsw.edu.au explaining the issue.

To Install and Sign In

Windows/Mac OS

Simply google “Download Microsoft Teams” and follow the link to “Download Microsoft teams on any device”  or go to the url: https://teams.microsoft.com/downloads and select Download Teams.

Once downloaded and installed, you will be required to sign in to use Microsoft Teams. Sign in using your school email address and your school password.

IOS

Click the following link: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/microsoft-teams/id1113153706?platform=iphone or open the App store on your IOS device and search for Microsoft Teams and press the install button.

Once installed, you will be required to sign in to use Microsoft Teams. Sign in using your school email address and your school password.

Microsoft Teams Online

As an alternative to installing the Teams application, you may use all the same features online.

·        Go to the url: Office.com.

·        Sign in using your school email and password.

·        Select Teams from the list of available apps.

Using Microsoft Teams

(1) The side menu allows you to view your classes, chats, files and notifications.

(2) You can select "Teams" or "All teams" to view a list of your classes.

(3) The account icon will allow you to adjust your settings.

(4) The class space will show the class conversation, active class meetings and school work files.

(5) The workspace allows you to communicate, add files, or connect audio or video

Classes will take place in “Meetings”. Select join to connect to the meeting.

The workspace provides a collaborative communication space with your teachers and other students.

The Paperclip icon will allow you to upload and send document attachments to your class. The Camera icon will allow you to communicate with your teachers or on an audio or video call.

Meetings

Meetings will allow you to meet as a class – the menu bar will allow you to control your audio, video and text settings.

(1) Show Participants - will open a panel on the right listing the participants in the meeting.

(2) Show conversation - will open a panel on the right showing the meeting conversation which will also be available after the meeting.

(4) Breakout Rooms - allows the teacher/meeting Organizer to generate breakout rooms

(6) Toggle Camera/Modify Camera settings

(7) Toggle Microphone

(8) Share content - allowing you to share your screen or a specific window

(9) Leave the meeting or end the meeting for everyone by clicking the down arrow and selecting "End meeting"

(10) More actions - Allows you to access device settings menu, set the meeting options, take notes during the meeting, set your view mode for the camera's of meeting participants as well as more.
