VoIP Phone System

Home > Staff > School Hardware > Phone System

Each staffroom, and office will include a number of desktop phones similar to the one pictured. The extension of the phone is displayed in the top left hand corner of the screen. To dial another extension simply use the number keys and either pick up the receiver or leave it on the phone to continue using handsfree (speaker) mode.

To dial external numbers, press 0 for an external line, and then enter the number to dial.

The extension of each phone is shown in the top left corner of the display.

Most faculty staff rooms also have what is known as a ring group. This is a single extension number that when called, will ring all the handsets in that staff room.

Some other features of the phone system you may find useful are as follows:

Directory - You can find a staff members extension via the built in directory. To access the directory, press the "down" navigation key (6) and then search by entering letters using the numpad, starting with the staff members given name.

Transferring - To transfer a call you have received to another extension, press the "TRAN" key (9) and then dial the extension to transfer the call to. At this point, you can simply hang up and the call will ring at the destination extension. If you wish to explain to the intended recipient who the incoming call is from, after dialing you can wait for them to answer, speak with them, and then press the "TRAN" key (9) again to send the waiting call through to them.

Voicemail - All extensions with the school also have access to voicemail, however this is turned off by default. Please contact the IT department if you would like to make use of this. Voicemail, once enabled, is accessed via the "MESSAGE" key (7). This key will also blink to indicate you have new messages waiting.
