The school expects students to attend school on all school days. It is the responsibility of parents/carers to send students to school. The school is required by the Education Reform Act 1990 to monitor the daily attendance or absence of students in the school by maintaining a daily register for each class of students.
When students sign-in late, sign-out early or for when they have been absent for a full day, the school requires the absence reason to be verified by the parent. Verification could be in the form of a Doctor’s Certificate, an email or a signed note from a parent. Parents have seven days to explain their child’s absence or the absence is recorded as an unjustified reason.
If a written note or email is obtained from a parent, the staff will update Edumate. But an alternative is for parents to update Edumate themselves via the Carer Portal. The advantage of this is that the parents themselves can enter details against the recorded absence straight away, anywhere, anytime.
