What will I learn?

In Health and Physical Education, the focus is on the well-being of the students themselves, of other people, and of society through learning in health-related and movement contexts. The course is structured with two practical lessons and one classroom based lesson each week.

Over the course, a broad range of topics are covered that encourage students to look at how they interact with other people, the importance of managing risks, the development of a range of movement skills and the value of participation. Year 9 students also participate in an Aquatics program for one term of the year.

Specific Health related topics develop understanding of well-being, personal identify, self-awareness, understanding of beliefs and values, the importance of nutrition, activity and body care for healthy lives. Specific Healthy Relationships (Sexuality) Education explores human maturation, sexual health, media images and stereotyping, puberty and issues associated with physical development.

What WILL I DO?
