Level 3 Health will suit you if you a have an interest in personal wellbeing and the wellbeing of the wider community, leading to employment in social work, nursing, education, as well as the medical field.
Students will develop Interpersonal skills and will explore their own attitudes and values, justify opinions they may have, and learn to have empathy for others who might not have the same attitudes or beliefs.
Level 3 Health will provide you with foundation skills and knowledge to potentially continue your study in areas such as sociology, psychology, health sciences, social work, education, community and population health, health services, health policy and strategy, social health and population health in New Zealand and beyond.
Applicants to New Zealand universities require credits in approved subjects. This Level 3 Health course is a university approved subject.
The main focus of Level 3 Health is to equip you with the skills and knowledge to critically examine the effect of health determinants on Hauora at a personal, interpersonal and societal level, with a particular focus on influences, consequences and strategies.
Health is a valued subject where students learn about themselves, their identity, strengths and attributes in a safe and inclusive environment. This course aims to establish relationships and understanding for students to become knowledgeable and reflective about personal health and well-being, while gaining mana and confidence to grow into a resilient and strong individual. These objectives accommodate other curriculum subjects such as Physical Education, History, English and Te Ao Māori. This course is an influential platform for the you to be engaged with New Zealand’s multicultural society.
You will undertake three internal assessments and one external examination.

You will examine influences on local and international health issues, the consequences and implications on well-being, and discover strategies that could be implemented to minimise harm.

You will negotiate the way you're assessed with your teacher from the selected standards that this course offers. While there is flexibility in the mode of assessment, generally three internal assessments are completed as a written report and there is one external examination assessment.
