The Pathways course endeavours to give learners the opportunity to develop their Career Management competencies, knowing what their interests, skills and strengths are and then exploring opportunities in the world of work and further tertiary study to find the right fit.
In addition to the classroom programme all students in 12 Pathways will be encouraged to undertake a work experience placement through Gateway. This can be with an individual employer or through a programme delivered through an external provider (e.g. Red Shirts) or an industry training organisation (e.g. Start Up - MITO).
You will need to be ready to participate and be willing to genuinely engage with the opportunities presented to you. This means committing to the internal assessment and the opportunities offered to engage with outside providers.
The Year 12 Pathways classroom programme has five key components:
The workplace
Personal development
Preparing for work
Health and safety in the workplace
Industry standards
This is in addition to work place learning and opportunities to participate in programmes operated by tertiary and other training providers.
This is an internally assessed unit standard based course.
Students taking part in programmes with tertiary and other external providers may have access to additional credits.
