Construction is a practical and multi-disciplinary program for students, providing them with the skills and knowledge to springboard into any career in the construction industry. Rather than focusing on any one trade, Building, Construction, and Allied Trades Skills (BCATS) programmes build skills and an understanding of all trades in the construction industry. They also develop literacy, numeracy and communication skills and contribute to NCEA qualifications. - From BCITO

You will focus on being able to read and understand design plans and to implement techniques with accuracy and carry out quality control.
There will also be a theory component to the course that will supplement the practical learning.
No previous experience is required, however if you have completed Level 1 Materials Technology you will be well placed for this course. We are interested in students whom have a genuine interest in a trade career.
You will need a high degree of self discipline.
There is a course fee of $75 to supplement the cost of materials required for the projects which you will manufacture. You will be able to take your projects home once they have been assessed.
It is advised that you choose either Construction or Materials Technology (not both). You may also choose a second option from the remaining available Technology Courses.
If you have a genuine interest for this course it is recommended that you discuss your interest PRIOR to selection with the HoD Holly Browne
